What Is BAP? Why Buy BAP? Farmed Seafood
WHERE TO BUY
BAP -- Wholesome Seafood, Responsibly Produced.

PhotoBest Aquaculture Practices certification has been adopted by major retailers in the global market. Companies like Walmart Stores, Darden Restaurants, and Lyons Seafoods, for example, have specified Best Aquaculture Practices certification for their shrimp suppliers. Additional companies endorse the program, as well.

Look for the "Best Aquaculture Practices Certified" mark on seafood packaging at stores operated by the companies listed below. If you don't find it, ask your seafood department managers to stock seafood products from BAP-certified facilities. They can find participating BAP-licensed buyers on the Aquaculture Certificatiion Council website. As the BAP Certification Management group, ACC coordinates the implementation of the BAP standards through site inspections and audits.

BAP certification currently applies only for facilities that raise and process shrimp, tilapia, channel catfish and Pangasius. The program is expanding to include salmon and other fish species, as well.
